Meta has officially introduced Meta AI in Urdu for users across Pakistan, marking a major step toward inclusive artificial intelligence in the country. The announcement came during a joint event between Meta and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) titled “Future in Focus: AI and Innovation.”
At the event, officials announced the start of new initiatives aimed at promoting AI education and launching pilot programs for government digital transformation. With the Urdu rollout, Pakistani users can now interact with Meta AI in both English and Urdu, making the technology more accessible to millions.
Meta also unveiled the local edition of its guidance document, “Transforming Public Sector Innovation in Asia Pacific with Llama.” The guide outlines how Meta’s open-source AI model, Llama, can enhance government operations, improve public services, and strengthen data sovereignty.
The document highlights best practices and successful examples from several Asia-Pacific nations, including Pakistan. Under this program, experts from both the public and private sectors will collaborate on a shared platform to exchange strategies and experiences for driving effective digital transformation.
Officials noted that Meta’s collaboration with Pakistan’s IT ministry will help build local AI capacity, ensure inclusive digital innovation, and prepare the next generation for an increasingly AI-driven future.
