Negotiations between the federal government and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Azad Jammu & Kashmir have ended successfully after days of unrest. The two sides have finalized key demands and are set to sign a comprehensive agreement aimed at restoring peace and fulfilling citizens’ grievances.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s high-level delegation, including federal ministers and leaders such as Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Amir Muqam, and Raja Pervez Ashraf, met with JAAC representatives led by Shaukat Nawaz Mir and others in Muzaffarabad.

The agreement includes all legitimate demands of the JAAC focused on public welfare. A Legal Action Committee has been formed to oversee implementation, meeting every 15 days. Constitutional or legal aspects of certain demands will be reviewed by experts.

Prime Minister Sharif welcomed the outcome, calling it a “major victory for Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, and democracy.” Officials said that roads in Muzaffarabad have reopened and protesters have dispersed, with normalcy returning to the region.
