At least five people were killed and more than 50 others injured after violent clashes erupted between Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) supporters and police in Muridke, Punjab, on October 13, 2025. The confrontation took place during a pro-Palestine rally organized by TLP, which quickly turned violent as protesters hurled stones and opened fire on law enforcement officers.
According to authorities, two police officers were killed in the exchange, prompting security forces to respond with tear gas and live ammunition to disperse the crowd. The chaos left several vehicles damaged and caused widespread panic in the area.
In the aftermath, the Punjab government has recommended a federal ban on the TLP, citing its repeated involvement in violent demonstrations and anti-state activities. Officials also confirmed that the group’s bank accounts and assets have been frozen, while financial investigations are underway to trace possible links to extremist funding networks.
TLP, a hardline religious organization, has a history of violent protests in Pakistan, often over blasphemy-related issues and political grievances. The latest unrest underscores the ongoing struggle between religious hardliners and the state, especially amid heightened tensions over the situation in Palestine.
