Pakistan has officially withdrawn from the upcoming FIH Junior Hockey World Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in India from November 28 to December 11, citing unsuitable circumstances for participation.

According to a statement from the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Secretary Rana Mujahid informed the International Hockey Federation (FIH) of Pakistan’s decision to skip the tournament. The PHF had earlier suggested holding Pakistan’s matches at a neutral venue, but the proposal was not accepted.

Rana Mujahid stated that “under the current conditions, it is neither appropriate nor safe for Pakistan to travel to India to compete.” The federation emphasized that the decision was made after careful consideration of the political and security environment.

This marks the second time in recent years that Pakistan has opted out of a hockey event in India — the national team also skipped the Asia Cup earlier under similar circumstances.

Pakistan’s withdrawal is expected to affect the tournament schedule, as the Junior World Cup was anticipated to feature top teams from across the world, including India, Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands.
