| Condemnation of the bill's approval by the Israeli parliament / File (presstv.ir) |
Seventeen countries and international organizations — including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the OIC, and the Arab League — have strongly condemned Israel’s Knesset for passing an illegal bill to annex the occupied West Bank.
In a joint statement, the countries declared that the move blatantly violates international law and multiple UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which denounces any Israeli actions aimed at altering the demographic structure, character, or legal status of the occupied Palestinian territories since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
The statement reaffirmed that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has already confirmed the illegality of Israel’s occupation, settlement expansion, and annexation efforts in Palestinian lands. It further emphasized that Israel holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.
The signatories also welcomed the ICJ’s recent advisory opinion on Israel’s responsibility to ensure humanitarian access to Gaza, calling it an important reaffirmation of international obligations.
The statement urged Israel to cease all unilateral and unlawful actions and called on the international community to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities toward ensuring justice and accountability.
It concluded by stressing that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital remains the only path to lasting peace and stability in the region.
