Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced the reopening of gas connections for domestic consumers across Pakistan, fulfilling a long-standing public demand. The announcement was made during a ceremony in Islamabad marking the restoration of household gas connections.
Addressing the event, the Prime Minister stated that new connections of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) will now be issued to domestic consumers nationwide. He recalled that when the PDM government came into power in 2022, the country faced multiple challenges, including a shortage of gas, which made it impossible to issue new connections, forcing authorities to apologize to applicants.
Shahbaz Sharif added that while the gas infrastructure—including pipelines—was prepared during that period, the lack of available gas had delayed connection approvals. Now, with improved circumstances, issuing new domestic gas connections has become feasible, marking a significant step in addressing citizens’ needs.
