In a major political development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced its support for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the no-confidence motion against the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government.

Speaking to the media outside the Presidency, senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah stated that the party’s parliamentary group had unanimously decided to withdraw its confidence from the current AJK government. He clarified that while the PML-N would support the PPP’s no-confidence move, it would not become part of the new government. “After the current term ends, free and fair elections should be held in Azad Kashmir,” he emphasized.

Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal echoed these views, saying that the existing AJK setup had failed to fulfill its responsibilities. “The PML-N and PPP have reached an understanding on the no-confidence motion. The PML-N will remain in opposition and not seek power,” he said. Iqbal added that if the PPP secured a majority, it would rightfully form the next government in Azad Kashmir.

PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira also addressed the media, criticizing the current AJK government for “creating problems instead of solving them.” He commended the PML-N’s decision, saying it demonstrated a shared commitment to political stability and problem-solving in the region.

Both parties reaffirmed their agreement to work jointly toward restoring effective governance and stability in Azad Kashmir.
