Separatist Movements Intensify in India’s Northeast as Nagaland Leader Vows to Continue Struggle

Independence movements in India’s northeastern states of Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam have gained renewed momentum, with separatist leaders vowing to continue their struggle against what they describe as Indian military oppression and cultural domination.

Thongaleng Muivah, the head of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), strongly condemned the increasing atrocities of Indian forces and reaffirmed his group’s commitment to the freedom struggle. He declared that the movement for Nagaland’s independence will not stop under any circumstances.

Issuing a stern warning to the Indian government and military, Muivah said:

“If Prime Minister Modi wants to challenge us, we are ready. No matter what happens, we will stand firm on our cause and will never bow before India.”

He accused Indian forces of systematic oppression against the people of Nagaland, claiming that the central government in New Delhi is actively working to erase the state’s cultural identity and autonomy through deliberate policy measures.

Meanwhile, separatist groups in Manipur and Assam have also intensified their activities. Several local organizations have reportedly joined forces to form a united front against New Delhi’s control over the northeastern region.

It is worth noting that India continues to occupy several disputed regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, Junagadh, and Nagaland, where independence movements have persisted for decades. Critics argue that the Modi administration has consistently relied on military force to silence demands for self-determination rather than pursuing political dialogue.
