The Sindh Health Department has reported a surge in dengue cases across the province, with 175 new infections confirmed this month, bringing the total number of cases in 2025 to 819, including one death. According to Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Karachi Division remains the epicenter of the outbreak with 85 cases, followed by Hyderabad with 48, Mirpurkhas with 37, and Sukkur with 5 reported cases.

Expressing concern over the rising numbers, Dr. Pechuho emphasized that the provincial government is implementing comprehensive measures to contain the disease. Anti-dengue campaigns have been intensified in all divisions, with daily fumigation and spraying operations conducted across Karachi. Hospitals have also been directed to provide immediate medical attention to dengue patients.

Dr. Pechuho highlighted that dengue is a preventable disease and called on the public to actively participate in prevention efforts. “If citizens ensure that water does not accumulate in or around their homes, this outbreak can be effectively controlled,” she stated.

Health department teams are closely monitoring both suspected and confirmed cases across all districts, working in coordination with local administrations to implement immediate preventive and remedial measures. The minister reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to public health, assuring that all available resources are being deployed to eliminate dengue and other vector-borne diseases from the province.
