Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has made history by breaking a 28-year-old world record in women’s One Day Internationals. On Thursday, during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match against South Africa, Mandhana became the player with the most runs in a single calendar year in women’s ODI cricket.

She achieved this milestone in the 8th over of the match by hitting a six. Although she later scored 23 runs off 32 balls, her achievement marked a historic moment for Indian cricket and women’s cricket worldwide.
