Intense fighting broke out along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border on October 11, 2025, after Taliban forces launched attacks on several Pakistani military posts in areas including Kurram, Nangarhar, and Kunar. The assault was reportedly a retaliation for Pakistani airstrikes conducted on October 9, which targeted TTP militants inside Afghan territory.
The clashes involved the use of artillery, small arms, and aerial bombardments, leading to casualties on both sides, the evacuation of nearby villages, and the temporary closure of key border crossings such as Torkham and Chaman.
Amid rising tensions over the Durand Line dispute, Saudi Arabia and Qatar called on both nations to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent the situation from escalating further and to safeguard regional stability.
