U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that if Hamas fails to return the bodies of hostages held in Gaza, the countries involved in the peace agreement will take coordinated action against the group.
In a statement carried by international media, Trump said Washington is closely monitoring developments in Gaza over the next 48 hours, particularly regarding the repatriation of hostages and the fragile ceasefire’s stability.
The president emphasized that non-compliance by Hamas could trigger a collective response from the signatories of the Gaza peace accord, underscoring that violations will not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, during a brief stopover in Doha en route to the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia, Trump met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussing the humanitarian and security situation in Gaza. Trump noted that Qatar is prepared to deploy a peacekeeping force to Gaza “if the need arises,” in coordination with other regional and international partners.
The U.S. leader’s remarks mark a significant escalation in international pressure on Hamas, as global mediators seek to preserve the ceasefire and ensure the return of hostages amid mounting regional tensions.
