WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, is testing an interesting new feature for its Status (story) function. The update aims to make Status updates more interactive and engaging for users.
According to reports, the new feature will allow users to add polls, quick replies, and reactions directly within their Status updates, making them more than just visual or text-based posts. This is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to compete with other social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, which have long supported interactive stories.
The testing phase is currently limited to a small group of beta users, but WhatsApp plans to roll it out more broadly in the coming months. Meta spokespersons said the feature is designed to enhance user engagement while maintaining privacy, a key focus for the messaging app.
Industry analysts believe that this move could increase time spent on WhatsApp and provide new opportunities for brands and content creators to connect with audiences in creative ways.
