In a landmark deal valued at $38 billion, Amazon and OpenAI have entered into a long-term partnership granting OpenAI access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for its advanced artificial intelligence operations.
Under the seven-year agreement, OpenAI will leverage Amazon’s cloud computing infrastructure and gain access to thousands of Nvidia graphics processors, bolstering its ability to train and deploy next-generation AI models at scale.
OpenAI’s CEO stated that the company plans to invest $1.4 trillion to build 30 gigawatts of computing resources, marking one of the largest AI infrastructure initiatives in history.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Nvidia’s most powerful AI chips will now be exclusive to American companies, restricting access to nations such as China and others.
In an interview, Trump said, “We will not share our most advanced chips with any other country — only the United States will have Blackwell chips.”
Experts believe this marks a major tightening in U.S. export policy, potentially intensifying the global AI and semiconductor race. The move is expected to further strain tech relations between Washington and Beijing, as advanced chips are critical for AI development, robotics, and defense technologies.
Nvidia, now the world’s most valuable tech company, continues to dominate the AI hardware market, with its Blackwell GPUs driving breakthroughs in cloud computing and artificial intelligence worldwide.
