PCB Sacks Women’s Team Head Coach Mohammad Wasim After Disastrous World Cup Performance

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed Mohammad Wasim from his role as head coach of the Pakistan women’s cricket team following the team’s dismal showing in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

According to PCB officials, the decision was made after the national women’s side failed to win a single match in the tournament — losing four matches while three were washed out due to rain. The board has now initiated the search for a new head coach to revamp the women’s cricket setup.

PCB sources confirmed that the board remains committed to strengthening women’s cricket in Pakistan, promising a comprehensive restructuring of coaching and performance systems to ensure improved results in future tournaments.

It’s worth noting that Mohammad Wasim was appointed in 2024 as head coach with full authority over team selection and performance management. However, the World Cup debacle led to mounting criticism and eventual termination of his contract.

The PCB is expected to announce a new coaching panel soon, focusing on developing the women’s team into a competitive unit on the international stage.
