Fazlur Rehman Meets President Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto to Discuss 27th Amendment Draft



Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met with President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency, where Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present.


According to sources, the high-level meeting focused on consultations over the government’s proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment and the current political landscape. The leaders exchanged views on the amendment’s implications and the broader political cooperation required for its passage in Parliament.


Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also held a separate meeting with President Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto, urging the PPP leadership to help convince Maulana Fazlur Rehman to support the amendment.


Sources added that the PPP leadership assured Naqvi they would discuss the matter further with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, emphasizing the importance of resolving all issues through mutual consultation.


Following the meetings, President Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, Mohsin Naqvi, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman attended the wedding ceremony of Qadir Patel’s son, signaling a continuation of political engagement beyond formal discussions.
