The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Humair Karim, and Director General of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Christine Toetzke. Also in attendance were German Ambassador Anna Lepel and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany, Saqlain Syeda.
According to the joint statement, the assistance will be provided within the current fiscal year and will focus on key areas including environmental protection, renewable energy, sustainable economic growth, technical training, and social welfare.
Secretary Humair Karim expressed appreciation for Germany’s continued support in Pakistan’s renewable energy projects, employment generation, and efforts to strengthen social protection systems. He emphasized that the partnership aligns closely with Pakistan’s “Uraan Pakistan” economic reform program, aimed at fostering inclusive and sustainable development.
Christine Toetzke lauded Pakistan’s ongoing reform efforts and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to working closely with Islamabad in addressing climate change, economic stability, and social inclusion challenges.
This new package underscores Germany’s long-standing cooperation with Pakistan, spanning decades of partnership in development, climate resilience, and technical advancement.
