Iran Offers to Mediate Between Pakistan and Afghan Taliban to Ease Regional Tensions

Iran has offered to mediate between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban to defuse rising tensions and promote dialogue between the two neighboring countries.


According to diplomatic sources, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi reached out separately to Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, expressing Tehran’s readiness to play a constructive role in reconciliation efforts.


During a telephone conversation, Araqchi and Dar discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and international issues of mutual interest. The Iranian foreign minister emphasized the historical and friendly ties between the two nations, saying that Iran is ready to extend all possible support to foster peace and understanding between Islamabad and Kabul.


Diplomatic sources also revealed that Tehran is deeply concerned about the recent tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Araqchi urged both sides to continue dialogue, stressing that sustained communication is essential for long-term stability in the region.


In his remarks, Ishaq Dar briefed the Iranian foreign minister on Pakistan’s recent talks with the Afghan interim government and reiterated that regional peace and stability are of utmost importance. Both sides agreed to maintain regular contact and consultation over the issue.


Sources further confirmed that Araqchi also held a separate phone conversation with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, underscoring Iran’s commitment to facilitating a peaceful resolution through diplomatic means.
