Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in Islamabad for a two-day state visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, marking a significant step toward strengthening economic, security, and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During his visit, King Abdullah II will meet both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari to discuss a wide range of issues, including bilateral trade, defense collaboration, counterterrorism efforts, and stability in the Middle East. The agenda also includes consultations on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, where both Pakistan and Jordan share longstanding support for the Palestinian cause.
Government officials expect the two sides to sign several important agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation across key sectors. Pakistan is also set to confer its highest civilian award on King Abdullah II in recognition of his leadership and efforts to deepen ties between the two nations.
Trade between Pakistan and Jordan has recently expanded to $100 million annually, with both sides exploring possibilities for joint ventures in agriculture, defense technology, and advanced security collaboration. The visit is seen as an important opportunity to transform the growing diplomatic warmth into concrete economic and strategic partnerships.
