Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has announced that the Green Line Common Corridor will officially be inaugurated in October next year, marking a major development in the city’s transport infrastructure.

Speaking to the media, the mayor acknowledged that citizens have faced difficulties during the construction phase. He added that the public had also endured challenges during the original Green Line project, but assured that once the ongoing work is completed, residents will finally experience significant relief and improved mobility.

Wahab confirmed that the government plans to open the Green Line Common Corridor to the public by 31 October 2026, aligning with the timeline discussed with federal authorities.

Addressing concerns regarding coordination, the mayor stated that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) was not taken into confidence when the project initially began. However, he emphasized that federal and local institutions are now working jointly to resolve all outstanding issues and ensure smooth progress.

Wahab reiterated that the project was being closely monitored and that the city administration is committed to delivering a modern, efficient, and accessible corridor that will ease urban congestion and benefit millions of commuters.
