Pakistan made a dominant start to the Hockey World Cup qualifying round, defeating Bangladesh by a decisive 8–2 margin in their opening match.
The national team displayed remarkable control and attacking skill throughout the game, with Ahmad Nadeem and Afraz each scoring two goals. Captain Imad Butt, Ghazanfar Ali, Rana Waheed Ashraf, and Hanan Shahid added one goal apiece, ensuring a strong lead for Pakistan.
Bangladesh’s Hazifa and Amirul Islam managed to score one goal each, but their efforts couldn’t match Pakistan’s relentless pace and precision.
The win marks an encouraging beginning for Pakistan as they aim to secure a place in the upcoming Hockey World Cup. The remaining matches of the Pakistan–Bangladesh series will be played on November 14 and November 16.
