In an unexpected turn of events, Russia’s first artificial intelligence-powered humanoid robot, AIDOL, stumbled and fell face-first on stage during its grand unveiling ceremony.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the robot attempted to wave at the audience by lifting its right arm but lost balance and toppled forward. Two assistants quickly rushed to the stage to help lift the robot back to its position.

The robot, developed by a Russian technology firm, was being showcased as a milestone in domestic robotics innovation. Vladimir Vitukhin, the company’s CEO, downplayed the mishap, stating, “We hope this mistake becomes a valuable learning experience.”

Vitukhin added that 77% of AIDOL’s components are locally manufactured, with plans to increase that figure to 93% in future versions.

According to the company, AIDOL is designed to perform three core human-like functions — walking independently, handling objects, and communicating with humans. Despite the embarrassing fall, experts say such incidents are common in early prototype testing and represent an important step in advancing humanoid robotics technology.
