Pakistan extended their unbeaten run in the tri-nation T20 series with a commanding 69-run victory over Zimbabwe on Saturday.
Winning the toss at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan opted to bat first and posted an imposing total. The top order delivered strongly, with captain Babar Azam scoring 74 and opener Sahibzada Farhan adding 63 to steer the team to 195 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs.
Pakistan’s innings remained steady throughout, as both batters paced their knocks with controlled aggression. The hosts appeared well in control as Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs in the middle overs.
Chasing a target of 196, Zimbabwe faltered early and lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Ryan Burl offered resistance, completing a fighting half-century, but received little support from the rest of the batting lineup. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 126, falling well short of the target.
Pakistan’s bowling attack dominated the innings. Usman Tariq produced the standout performance of the match, claiming a sensational hat-trick and finishing with 4 wickets. Mohammad Nawaz added 2 wickets, tightening Pakistan’s grip through the middle overs.
The match also saw two changes in Pakistan’s lineup. Usman Tariq and Naseem Shah returned to the playing XI, while Salman Mirza and Abrar Ahmed were rested for this fixture.
Pakistan entered the contest with confidence, having defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in their opening match and securing a 7-wicket win over Sri Lanka the previous day. With this latest victory, the hosts remain firmly on course for the tri-series final.
