Pakistan’s national Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign will run from November 17 to 29, targeting 35.4 million children across the country, the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) announced.
The campaign aims to vaccinate all children aged 6 months to 5 years. In addition, children in high-risk districts will also receive polio drops as part of the simultaneous immunization drive.
According to NEOC, the breakdown of polio vaccination targets by province is as follows:
- Punjab: 6.8 million children
- Sindh: over 8.4 million children
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 5.246 million children
- Balochistan: 2.246 million children
- Gilgit-Baltistan: 136,000 children
- Islamabad: 461,000 children
For Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccines, the provincial targets include:
- Punjab: over 17.3 million children
- Sindh: over 8.263 million children
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: over 5.988 million children
- Balochistan: over 2.73 million children
- Azad Kashmir: over 624,000 children
- Gilgit-Baltistan: over 246,000 children
- Islamabad: over 225,000 children
Vaccinations will be administered at government health centers, schools, madrassas, and temporary vaccination sites, ensuring wide coverage across all regions.
The NEOC emphasized the importance of parental cooperation to protect children from measles, rubella, and polio, stressing that immunization is safe, free, and crucial for public health.
