Pakistan’s security forces effectively responded to unprovoked firing from across the Afghan border at the Chaman crossing on Wednesday, successfully bringing the situation under control, according to the Ministry of Information.
In an official statement, the ministry spokesperson said that “certain elements from the Afghan side initiated unprovoked firing on Pakistani border posts,” prompting a swift yet responsible response from Pakistani forces.
“The firing was started from the Afghan side,” the spokesperson clarified, adding that Pakistan’s security forces acted with restraint and professionalism, quickly stabilizing the situation and ensuring that the ceasefire remained intact.
Rejecting allegations circulating from Afghan sources, the Ministry of Information stated that Pakistan completely refutes the claims made regarding the Chaman border incident.
The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful engagement and continued dialogue with Afghanistan, expressing hope that the Afghan authorities will act responsibly to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Chaman crossing—one of the most significant trade and transit points between the two countries—has witnessed periodic tensions, often fueled by border disputes and militant activity along the frontier.
