Wana, South Waziristan — Pakistani security forces repelled an assault on Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan, killing two militants and containing additional attackers inside the campus, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the ISPR, fighters from the India-backed group Fitna al-Khawarij attempted to breach the college’s security perimeter. Attackers used an explosive-laden vehicle to ram the main gate, destroying it and damaging nearby infrastructure before being engaged by responding forces.

Security units reacted quickly and decisively, the military spokesman said, repelling the initial breach and killing two of the assailants in direct fire. Three other militants reportedly succeeded in entering the campus and were later trapped inside the administrative block, where security operations are ongoing.

The ISPR alleged that the attackers were coordinating with handlers under Afghan Taliban influence, receiving instructions from across the border — a claim that, the statement added, contradicts Taliban assertions that such elements are not present in Afghanistan. The military reiterated Pakistan’s right to act against militants and their leadership sheltering in neighboring territory.

The spokesperson framed the attack as part of a pattern of brutal tactics aimed at spreading fear among youth and disrupting education in tribal areas, comparing the plot to past large-scale assaults on educational institutions. Authorities said clearance and rescue operations would continue until the situation is fully secured.
