Trump Predicts New Yorkers Will Move to Florida After Zahran Mamdani Becomes NYC’s First Muslim Mayor

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that residents of New York City will start leaving for Florida following the election of Zahran Mamdani as the city’s new mayor. Speaking at a business forum in Miami, Trump remarked that New York “lost its independence on election day” and expressed skepticism about Mamdani’s leadership.

“We’ll see how Zahran Mamdani performs in New York,” Trump said. “We want New York to succeed, and we’ll try to help them a little.”

The president went on to say that Miami could soon become a refuge for people fleeing Mamdani’s ‘communist ideas,’ suggesting that many New Yorkers would prefer Florida’s governance and policies.

In his address, Trump also touched upon global military power, asserting that the United States remains the number-one nuclear power. He noted that Russia ranks second and China third, but warned that China could reach parity within four to five years. “We’ll see whether the disarmament plans among the three countries succeed or not,” he added.

Turning to international diplomacy, Trump argued that South Africa should no longer remain part of the G20 group and confirmed he will not attend the upcoming G20 summit scheduled in South Africa later this month. The event concluded with Trump dancing on stage, drawing cheers from the audience.

Zahran Mamdani’s recent victory has made history — he is not only New York City’s first Muslim mayor but also the youngest person ever elected to the post. Despite opposition from figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk, Mamdani secured a decisive win, marking a significant moment in American political history.
