Türkiye Issues Arrest Warrants for Netanyahu and Senior Israeli Officials Over Genocide Allegations

Türkiye has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 36 senior members of his government on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza, according to international media reports.

A statement from the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that 37 Israeli officials are named in the warrant list, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.

The prosecutor’s office stated that the officials are accused of carrying out systematic acts of genocide and crimes against humanity during Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.

The statement also referenced the destruction of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, which was built by Türkiye in Gaza and was destroyed in an Israeli airstrike in March.

This marks one of the strongest legal moves by Türkiye against Israeli leadership, coming amid growing international scrutiny of Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Türkiye had earlier joined South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which accuses Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Legal experts say this development could further strain Ankara-Tel Aviv relations and increase diplomatic pressure on Israel at global forums.
