The United States House of Representatives has approved a government spending bill, following the Senate’s earlier passage, effectively ending the longest federal shutdown in U.S. history.

According to American media reports, the bill will now be sent to President Donald Trump for his signature. The temporary funding measure provides financial resources to keep the federal government running until January 30, allowing vital services and departments to resume normal operations after a prolonged disruption.

The bill received 222 votes in favor, including six Democrats, while 209 lawmakers, among them two Republicans, voted against it.

The shutdown, which began on October 1, had paralyzed key government functions, affecting federal workers, public services, and essential operations nationwide.

The newly approved spending bill aims to restore food assistance programs, resume federal employee salaries, and reactivate the air traffic control system, among other services that had been suspended during the funding lapse.

Analysts say the move reflects growing bipartisan concern over the economic and administrative fallout of the shutdown, which had severely strained the U.S. economy and public confidence in the government’s ability to function effectively.
