The United States has announced new sanctions on 32 individuals and organizations associated with Iran’s missile and drone development programs, as part of its continued efforts to curb Tehran’s military capabilities.
According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the sanctioned individuals and entities are based in Iran, the United Arab Emirates, China, Turkey, Hong Kong, India, Germany, and Ukraine. They are accused of facilitating procurement and financial networks that support Iran’s weapons manufacturing and export activities.
The Treasury Department alleged that these networks pose a threat to U.S. interests and its allies in the Middle East, as well as to commercial operations in the Mediterranean region.
Washington emphasized that the sanctions aim to disrupt Iran’s ability to produce and transfer advanced weapons systems, particularly drones that have been used in conflicts across the Middle East and supplied to Russia for its war in Ukraine.
“The United States, in coordination with its partners and allies, will continue to take action to counter the global proliferation of Iran’s missile and UAV programs,” the Treasury Department said in a statement.
This move comes amid growing tensions between Washington and Tehran, as the U.S. seeks to pressure Iran over its expanding defense cooperation and regional influence.
