Zimbabwe delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the second match of the Pakistan T20 Tri-Series, tightening their grip on the tournament standings.
Batting first, Zimbabwe posted 162 for 8 in their 20 overs. Sikandar Raza led the charge with a brisk 47 off 32 balls, while Brian Bennett added a valuable 49 from 42 deliveries. Their partnership kept Zimbabwe steady despite regular bowling pressure from Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka struggled in reply and were bowled out for just 95 runs. Captain Dasun Shanaka top-scored with 34 off 25 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer resistance. Wickets fell at quick intervals, preventing Sri Lanka from building any momentum.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers maintained control from the start. Richard Ngarava claimed two wickets, while Brad Evans produced a standout spell, taking three crucial wickets. Support from the rest of the attack ensured Sri Lanka never came close to the target.
The match showcased strong performances across Zimbabwe’s lineup. Raza and Bennett’s disciplined batting, combined with Evans’ sharp bowling, kept the team dominant throughout the contest.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, lost key wickets early and squandered opportunities to challenge the target. Their batting collapse left little room for recovery, allowing Zimbabwe to dictate the game.
With this convincing victory, Zimbabwe have strengthened their position in the tri-series and boosted their confidence heading into the remaining fixtures.
