Pakistani batting star Babar Azam has arrived in Sydney ahead of his much-anticipated debut in the Big Bash League (BBL), where he will represent the Sydney Sixers in the upcoming BBL|15 season.

Babar, who was signed by the Sixers in June, landed in Australia on Monday and joined a star-studded squad featuring Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc. The former Pakistan captain expressed excitement about playing alongside Smith, calling him his “favorite batsman” and “the best in the world.” Babar said he is eager to create “good memories” with the Sixers and contribute consistently throughout the tournament.

The 30-year-old opener confirmed that he intends to play every match of the season, beginning December 14. His highly awaited Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) debut is scheduled for December 17 against the Adelaide Strikers, where a dedicated “Babaristan” fan zone will be set up—celebrating cricket culture with a South Asian flair.

Babar will be joined in Australia by other Pakistani stars including Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan, adding major star power to this year's Big Bash League and heightening excitement among fans.

With Babar Azam’s arrival, the Sydney Sixers are expected to field one of the strongest lineups in the tournament as they push for another BBL title.
