Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has officially made his debut in Australia’s premier T20 competition, the Big Bash League (BBL), representing the Sydney Sixers and marking a new chapter in his international franchise career.
Speaking at the Perth Ground during an interaction with former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist and commentator Howie, Babar said the weather in Perth was extremely pleasant and ideal for playing cricket. He described playing in Australia as a special experience due to the quality of grounds, passionate crowds, and competitive atmosphere that bring out the best in players.
The Pakistani batting ace also shared his happiness about having his family present in Australia during this milestone moment. He made a special mention of his father, saying that his love for travel and passion for cricket played a crucial role in shaping Babar’s journey as a cricketer.
Babar recalled that his father often took him to different matches and grounds during his childhood, which further strengthened his interest in the sport. He credited his father’s encouragement and guidance as a major factor behind his success at the highest level of cricket.
“I am grateful that my father is here in Australia and watching me play in the Big Bash League live,” Babar said, adding that it made the occasion even more special for him.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam’s participation in the Big Bash League has been warmly welcomed by cricket fans, with experts believing his presence will further boost the league’s global popularity. Sydney Sixers are also hopeful that the Pakistani star will deliver strong performances in the tournament.
