A mass shooting at the popular Bondi Beach in Australia’s largest city has left at least 10 people dead and several others injured, prompting a major security operation by authorities.

New South Wales Police confirmed that two individuals have been taken into custody following the incident. Security operations remain ongoing in the area, and the public has been advised to stay away from Bondi Beach until further notice.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, police said the situation is not yet fully under control and urged citizens to exercise caution. Local media reported that multiple people sustained injuries, while television footage showed victims lying on the ground as emergency responders carried out rescue operations.

Eyewitness Harry Wilson, 30, told a local newspaper that he saw at least 10 people lying on the ground, with blood spread across the area. “It was complete chaos,” he said, describing scenes of panic and fear.

Videos circulating on social media show beachgoers running for safety after the sound of gunfire, with police sirens audible in the background. Another clip shows police restraining two individuals on a pedestrian bridge, with officers attempting to provide medical assistance to one of them.

A spokesperson for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government is fully aware of the security situation at Bondi Beach and appealed to the public to strictly follow instructions issued by law enforcement agencies.
