Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf narrowly escaped a potentially life-threatening accident while representing Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL), sending shockwaves through players, commentators, and cricket fans.
The incident occurred during the 14th match of the BBL, where Melbourne Stars faced Sydney Thunder. Haris Rauf delivered an outstanding performance in the match, claiming three crucial wickets for just 29 runs and earning the Man of the Match award.
A tense moment unfolded during the fourth ball of the final over of Sydney Thunder’s innings. Batter Reece Topley played a powerful shot that sent the ball high into the air, creating a challenging catching opportunity.
Positioned at short third man, Haris Rauf sprinted towards the ball, while Hilton Cartwright charged in from deep point. Both fielders launched full-length dives, and for a brief moment, it appeared they might collide headfirst.
Fortunately, both players avoided a direct collision by a narrow margin. The near-miss was so alarming that commentators were momentarily left stunned, describing the situation as extremely dangerous and potentially disastrous.
