Karachi Traffic Accidents Claim 806 Lives This Year

Karachi has recorded a worrying spike in road fatalities this year, with 806 people losing their lives in various traffic accidents, according to rescue officials.


Data shows that among the deceased were 632 men, 81 women, 71 boys, and 22 girls, reflecting the severe impact of unsafe driving conditions across the city.


Rescue sources further reported that 11,596 people were injured during the same period. The injured included 9,081 men, 1,815 women, 536 boys, and 164 girls, highlighting the widespread scale of road-related incidents.


Officials noted that heavy vehicles remained one of the leading causes of fatal crashes, with 244 deaths attributed to collisions involving large transport vehicles. These included 41 fatalities caused by dumpers, 95 by trailers, 56 by water tankers, 20 by Mazda trucks, and 32 by buses.


The alarming figures underscore the urgent need for improved road safety measures, stricter enforcement, and better regulation of heavy vehicles in Karachi.
