The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that the long-awaited 5G licenses are expected to be issued by February or March next year, marking a major step toward modernizing the country’s telecom landscape.
According to the PTA Chairman, preparations are now in their final stages. The authority is currently reviewing all technical, regulatory, and financial requirements to ensure that the licensing process remains transparent and fully aligned with international standards.
The rollout of 5G services is being considered a significant milestone for Pakistan’s telecom sector. The technology is expected to enhance nationwide connectivity, dramatically improve internet speeds, and open the door to a wide range of advanced digital services.
Experts believe the introduction of 5G will strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy, boost IT exports, and lay the foundation for future technology-driven projects—ranging from smart cities and automation to AI-powered services and next-generation mobile applications.
