Inter Miami star and Argentina’s legendary footballer Lionel Messi has added yet another historic honor to his illustrious career after being named the greatest athlete of the 21st century.
According to an international news agency, a leading Canadian magazine has ranked Lionel Messi at the top of its list of the most influential athletes of the 21st century. The ranking recognizes athletes across different sports based on their extraordinary achievements, accolades, consistency, and global impact.
The magazine’s list places Messi above his long-time football rival Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as several global sports icons from other disciplines. NFL legend Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, secured the second position, while Olympic swimming great Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history with 28 medals, ranked third.
The top 25 list also features world-renowned athletes including tennis icon Serena Williams, sprinting legend Usain Bolt, and NBA superstar LeBron James, highlighting their influence beyond their respective sports.
In a surprising development, Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo was placed tenth on the list, ranking below athletes such as tennis champion Novak Djokovic, gymnastics icon Simone Biles, and basketball legend Kobe Bryant.
Messi’s top ranking further cements his status not only as one of football’s greatest players but also as one of the most impactful athletes in modern sporting history, admired for his talent, leadership, and unmatched consistency at the highest level.
