In Afghanistan’s Panjshir province, the National Resistance Front (NRF) has carried out a major operation targeting a key Taliban stronghold, resulting in the killing of 17 Taliban fighters, including a battalion Chief of Staff, according to local reports.
The strike was launched on the night of December 7 in the Manjistu village of Abdullah Khail valley in Dara district—an area considered a strategic base for Taliban operations.
The NRF executed the attack in two phases, beginning with a landmine explosion, followed immediately by a barrage of rockets. The targeted compound, reportedly belonging to the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense Special Brigade, was responsible for deploying fighters who regularly harassed and abused local civilians.
NRF officials claim that the Taliban base was completely destroyed during the operation. Five additional Taliban fighters were reported seriously injured. The NRF further stated that its forces suffered no casualties.
The development marks one of the most significant strikes by anti-Taliban forces in recent months as tensions remain high in the northern region.
