Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has said that a profound spiritual and historical connection exists between the State of Tayyaba (the holy lands) and the State of Pakistan, adding that the longstanding defence cooperation between the two nations remains an essential part of shared history.

Addressing the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference, Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized that Allah has granted Pakistan the unique honour of being among the chosen Muslim countries entrusted with the protection of the Holy Sites, a responsibility that carries both dignity and duty.

Highlighting the importance of knowledge, he said that nations that abandon education pave the way for division, chaos and disorder. He stressed that true strength and respect come from hard work, unity and knowledge—not through discord or fragmentation.

The Army Chief also reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding stance on terrorism, stating that terrorism is not Pakistan’s trait but India’s. “We do not strike from the shadows; we confront the enemy openly and with courage,” he asserted.

Field Marshal Munir underscored that in an Islamic state, no individual or group has the authority to declare jihad except the state itself. He added that Pakistan has achieved victories in major security operations through divine support and national unity.

Calling on religious scholars to play their vital role, he urged them to promote unity, broaden people’s perspectives, and contribute to the spread of peace, development and education in the country.

The conference highlighted the armed forces’ stance against extremism, the significance of Islamic teachings, and the crucial role of scholars in national progress. Field Marshal Munir concluded by saying that safeguarding Pakistan’s security, unity and Islamic values is the responsibility of every citizen.
