Pakistan Announces Film Mera Lyari to Counter Indian Propaganda Movie Dhurandhar

Pakistan has announced the production of a new film titled Mera Lyari in response to what officials describe as negative propaganda against Lyari in the Indian film Dhurandhar. The Sindh government has supported the making of Mera Lyari, which is scheduled for release in the first week of January.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the film will be released internationally, adding that India suffered a humiliating defeat in the war and cannot turn that defeat into a victory through films. He criticized Dhurandhar for portraying Pakistan—particularly Lyari—in a negative light.

“Lyari is not a symbol of violence; it represents culture, peace, talent, resilience, and courage,” Sharjeel Memon said. He emphasized that Mera Lyari will present the true and positive image of Lyari, showcasing peace, prosperity, and pride.

According to provincial officials, the upcoming film aims to counter misinformation by highlighting Lyari’s rich cultural heritage and the strength of its people. The project has received facilitation from the Sindh government to ensure a wide reach and authentic storytelling.

It is worth noting that the Indian film Dhurandhar was recently released and features several prominent Bollywood actors, including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt in leading roles. Pakistani authorities and cultural circles have labeled the film as propaganda targeting Pakistan and Lyari.
