Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with the Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security, and enhanced defence cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Libyan Armed Forces upon his arrival in Libya.
During the meeting, both military leaders held detailed discussions on the evolving regional security environment and agreed to further strengthen bilateral military ties. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in the areas of defence collaboration, military training, and capacity building.
Both sides also emphasised the importance of enhancing joint efforts in counterterrorism, recognising the shared challenges posed by extremism and regional instability. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting defence partnerships based on mutual interests and strategic cooperation.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to further solidify defence relations with Libya, while Lieutenant General Khalifa Haftar praised the professionalism and capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He also expressed Libya’s desire to broaden defence cooperation with Pakistan in the coming years.
The meeting underscored the growing military-to-military engagement between Pakistan and Libya, reflecting a shared commitment to peace, stability, and security at both regional and international levels.
