The talks were chaired by Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, with representatives of the goods transport sector participating in the discussions.
On the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, a special committee has been formed to address the transporters’ grievances. The committee will be headed by Maryam Aurangzeb and will include officials from the Goods Transport Alliance along with other relevant authorities. Its first meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow.
During the negotiations, the central president of the Goods Transport Alliance and other office-bearers signed a reconciliation agreement, officially announcing the end of the strike.
Maryam Aurangzeb welcomed the transporters’ decision, stating that the government is committed to resolving issues through dialogue and mutual understanding.
She emphasized that the government’s top priority is the protection of human life and the improvement of conditions for citizens.
The development is expected to ease supply-chain disruptions and restore normal goods movement across Punjab.
