Shaheen Afridi Endures Disappointing Big Bash League Debut with Brisbane Heat

Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi had a disappointing start to his Big Bash League (BBL) career as he struggled in his debut match for Brisbane Heat.

Afridi conceded 43 runs in just 2.4 overs without taking a wicket, failing to find rhythm in his opening appearance. His spell was cut short after he bowled two shoulder-high full tosses in an over, prompting the on-field umpire to stop him from bowling further in the match.

The costly outing drew attention on social media, with fans expressing concern over the left-arm pacer’s form in one of the world’s most competitive T20 leagues.

Separately, Shaheen Afridi has highlighted a long-standing issue faced by fast bowlers in Pakistan, stating that domestic pitches generally do not offer much assistance to pace bowlers.

Speaking on a podcast ahead of his BBL debut for Brisbane Heat, Afridi said he was hopeful that Australian pitches would provide better support for fast bowling. He noted that conditions in Australia are comparatively more bowler-friendly than those in Pakistan.

The Pakistani pacer expressed optimism that the bounce and pace of Australian wickets would help him perform better as the tournament progresses, despite a difficult start to his Big Bash League journey.
