Trump Signals Possible Military Action Against Venezuela Amid Oil Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States is considering all options in response to escalating tensions with Venezuela. Speaking in a telephone interview with a major American TV channel, Trump warned that operations against oil tankers in Venezuelan waters will continue.

When asked whether such measures could push the region toward war, Trump avoided a direct answer but later acknowledged that the possibility exists. He emphasized that timing and intensity of any actions would depend on developments in Venezuela.

“If the Venezuelan leadership continues on its current path, American ports and maritime routes could face a strong response,” Trump stated. He also reiterated threats to seize additional Venezuelan oil tankers in the coming days to enforce U.S. sanctions effectively.

This development follows Trump’s recent directive to block oil shipments traveling to and from Venezuela, a move that has intensified pressure on President Nicolás Maduro’s government. Shortly after the blockade, the U.S. seized an oil tanker near Venezuelan waters.

U.S.-Venezuela tensions have been rising steadily since September, during which the U.S. reportedly destroyed 30 vessels in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in 104 casualties. These aggressive actions underscore Washington’s readiness to escalate measures to protect its economic and strategic interests in the region.

Experts warn that continued confrontations in Venezuelan maritime zones could further destabilize regional security and have broader economic implications due to the importance of Venezuelan oil exports.

President Trump’s statements signal a firm stance, leaving international observers and regional governments closely monitoring the situation for potential escalation.
