At least four Pakistani soldiers were martyred while four terrorists were killed after militants launched a deadly attack on a security forces camp in the Boya area of North Waziristan district, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said the attack occurred on December 19 when militants belonging to Fitna Al-Khawarij — described as an Indian-backed terrorist proxy — attempted to breach the outer security perimeter of the camp. Alert and well-prepared troops responded swiftly, thwarting the attackers’ attempt to infiltrate the facility.
Following their failure to penetrate the camp, the terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the outer wall, causing extensive damage. The blast led to the collapse of part of the perimeter wall and severely damaged nearby civilian infrastructure, including a mosque.
ISPR reported that the attack resulted in injuries to at least 15 civilians, including women and children, as several nearby houses were also damaged. Security forces engaged the attackers in a fierce exchange of fire, killing four terrorists on the spot.
During the intense firefight, four brave soldiers embraced martyrdom. The fallen soldiers were identified as Havaldar Muhammad Waqas, Naik Khanwaiz, Sepoy Sufiyan Haider, and Sepoy Riffat. The military paid tribute to their courage and sacrifice, stating that they fought valiantly while defending the nation.
The statement further said that the attack was planned and supported by militants operating from Afghan territory, contradicting repeated claims by Afghan Taliban authorities that Afghan soil is not being used for cross-border terrorism.
Pakistan urged the interim Afghan government to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent terrorist groups from using Afghan territory against Pakistan. The ISPR reiterated that the protection of Pakistani citizens remains the top priority and that the country reserves the right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and security.
A clearance and sanitization operation was launched in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.
