Karachi police have claimed their largest operation of the year, arresting two suspects allegedly involved in the sexual abuse of more than 100 children across the city.
Speaking at a press briefing, SP Investigation Usman Sadozai said the arrests were made during an operation in the Tipu Sultan area following identification by a victim. The arrested suspects were identified as the prime accused, Imran, and his accomplice, Waqas Khan. Police records show that seven complaints related to the case were officially reported between 2020 and 2025.
Sadozai said DNA evidence played a crucial role in the investigation. Samples collected from multiple cases across different districts matched the same individual, prompting a detailed probe. According to police, all seven registered cases involved boys aged between 12 and 13 years, while in one case, the victim was assaulted by more than one individual. DNA from all registered cases matched the main suspect.
The SP further revealed that Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan had constituted a special investigation team on January 6 under the supervision of DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider. The team managed to arrest the most-wanted suspects within 11 days. The main accused, Imran, a resident of Manzoor Colony who runs a puncture repair stall, has reportedly confessed to abusing dozens of children over the past six years.
Police said the accused would lure children onto his motorcycle and take them to secluded areas near Malir Nadi, where the assaults took place. In three cases, victims successfully identified Imran, while in one case, a child identified both Imran and his accomplice Waqas Khan. In that incident, the suspects allegedly fled after the child raised an alarm in Surjani Town.
Sindh Inspector General of Police said the case was investigated on scientific grounds and praised the team for connecting multiple cases through DNA evidence. He announced that the investigation team would be rewarded for its performance.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed authorities to present the case in court with strong evidence and ordered the Additional IG Karachi to be briefed daily on progress. He stated that abuse of children is unacceptable and stressed that police must take every possible step to ensure the culprits are punished.
