The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reiterated its position on not sending the national team to India for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, citing security concerns and government directives.

In an official statement released after a meeting with an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation in Dhaka, the BCB said detailed discussions were held regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the tournament. During the meeting, the board formally renewed its request to shift Bangladesh’s World Cup matches to an alternative venue.

According to the BCB, the ICC delegation was briefed on instructions from the Bangladeshi government as well as prevailing security concerns related to traveling and playing in India. These factors, the board said, remain central to its stance on the issue.

The statement noted that the discussions were conducted in a constructive, cordial, and professional atmosphere, with both sides openly exchanging views on all relevant matters. The possibility of moving Bangladesh to a different group, considering logistical challenges, was also discussed.

The ICC delegation included General Manager Events and Corporate Communications Gaurav Saxena and General Manager Integrity Unit Andrew Efridge. The BCB said Saxena participated in the meeting online due to delays in receiving his visa.

The statement added that both the BCB and the ICC have agreed to continue negotiations on the matter, keeping communication channels open as discussions move forward.
