A shocking discovery was made near Mai Kolachi Road in Karachi where four decomposed bodies were recovered from a manhole close to a railway crossing, raising serious concerns over public safety and violent crime in the city.
According to DIG South Asad Raza, the deceased include one man, two women, and a child. Initial assessments suggest the bodies were 10 to 15 days old. Police officials stated that signs of torture were found on the bodies, while bloodstains were also discovered inside the manhole from where the bodies were recovered.
ASP Keamari confirmed that the bodies were severely mutilated and have been shifted to the hospital. The identification process has been initiated, while forensic teams continue to examine the scene. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed law enforcement agencies to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation.
The Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) report revealed disturbing details, stating that the victims ranged in age from 10 to 40 years. The body of a 10-year-old child showed severe injuries, including a slit throat and a crushed face. Another victim, a 15-year-old child, sustained injuries to the neck, face, and head. A teenage girl aged between 14 and 16 years was found with multiple injuries to her head and throat, while the fourth victim, a woman aged between 35 and 40 years, had injury marks on her head, face, and hands.
DIG Asad Raza said that efforts to identify the victims through NADRA fingerprint verification were unsuccessful. Samples have now been sent for chemical examination and DNA analysis to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary post-mortem findings suggest that all four victims were killed through violence.
SSP Keamari Amjad Sheikh stated that despite extensive checks, no reports of four people going missing simultaneously have been received across Karachi. He added that, based on initial evidence, the incident appears to be linked to an honour killing, though further investigation is underway.
Police confirmed that the bodies were discovered by a garbage collector and that no CCTV cameras were installed near the crime scene. A case is being registered at Docks Police Station under the state’s complaint, while authorities have assured that those responsible will be brought to justice.
