US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States carried out a large-scale military operation in Venezuela, resulting in the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his transfer out of the country.

According to Trump, the operation involved the detention of both President Maduro and his wife. The US president made the claim in a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a massive operation against Venezuela and its leader President Nicolás Maduro, after which Maduro and his wife were arrested and moved out of the country,” Trump wrote in his post.

If confirmed, the claim would mark one of the most significant instances of direct US military involvement in Latin America in decades. The last major US military intervention in the region occurred in 1989, when American forces invaded Panama to remove military ruler Manuel Noriega from power.

However, no official confirmation has so far been issued by the Venezuelan government regarding the arrest of President Maduro. Authorities in Caracas have remained silent on the matter, while independent verification of the US claim is still lacking.

The United States has long accused Maduro of running a narco-state and manipulating election results. Maduro, who came to power in 2013 following the death of Hugo Chávez, has repeatedly rejected these allegations, maintaining that Washington seeks control over Venezuela’s vast oil reserves, considered among the largest in the world.

The development comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Caracas, particularly after recent explosions in Venezuela’s capital Caracas and other regions, which have further escalated regional instability.
